Black Complete
Was the Black Death a complete disaster for the early modern European society?
Not quite. Because death black dashed nearly two thirds of the population of Europe has created a shortage of manpower. At this point in 1348 serfdom was widespread and Tennants of a feudal lord had to work his land, for tasks that he needed them and are part of a fighting force that he was called to war by the king. These Tennants had nothing to say on the issue or they would be thrown out of their homes. Now with the shortage of manpower, for the first time this class has the option to choose when and where they work and sell their work to the highest bidder. Wages have become an integral part the workforce. If a person does not like the conditions under which they worked, they could up sticks and offer their service another Lord.
