Trucks Scout
I have a 1950 International L-110 pick-up?
I want to know if the original Strait-6 engine will bolt to any transmission or how I could get a more modern tranny behind her with no engine modifications. Perhaps a transsexual Scout, or a Dodge Ford Chevy transmission and adapt, etc.. Thank you
Most transmissions are interchangeable with the older one because the bell can be removed from the transmission and the four bolts that hold the bellhousing on the transmission is in the same pattern among many models of car and trucks. Model bolt on the back of the engine is different from a model plan to use your lantern! Obtain a transmission model of Ford 70 or 80 or Chevrolet. Most of them were made by Dana or Spicer Corp. and are easy to get parts to you need repair them later. Make sure you buy a clutch that will fit your replacement trans. (Count the splines of the shaft) and you may need to be replaced before transmission yoke to fit the new trans (but not always). If you have access to a book transfer Transtar is Dacco you or be able to see that the ratios of final drive ratio has come when the make and model of vehicle, then just look for This transmission model. Just be sure to use a typical transmission instead of an obscure one year only model of trans
